010611 Weapon of Warrior Wisdom

Hello warriors.

Here is today’s Weapon of Warrior Wisdom.

Robert Manry had a boat named Tinkerbelle. It was 36 years old, the size of about two bathtubs and he bought it for $250. He went sailing on Lake Erie and taught himself navigation. Ever since he was a little boy he dreamed of sailing the Atlantic.

At the age of 47 he came home from his job as a copy editor for the Cleveland Plain Dealer and told his wife that he was going to sail Tinkerbelle 3200 miles across the Atlantic. When she regained consciousness, she asked him why the hell he wanted to do such a foolish thing.

He said, “There is a time when one must decide either to risk everything to fulfill one’s dreams or sit for the rest of one’s life in the backyard.”

He didn’t tell many people because he didn’t think it mattered or that they would care.

He did it for him…his life…to fulfill his boyhood dream…TO REALLY LIVE.

He dealt with near-collisions with oceanliners, wild storms and rough seas, being thrown overboard, hallucinations from the pep pills he took to stay awake to stay alive, broken-down, malfunctioning gear,  not knowing where he was, and the loud, deafening silence of absolute solitude. He faced real FEARS, not the make-believe kind like reality TV insults us with today.

Seventy-eight days after he pushed off, 20,000 people showed up to welcome and cheer him when he landed in Falmouth, England’s “backyard.”

WARRIOR Inspiration can be found in many places. All you have to do is look, then listen.

Hello warriors.

Here is today’s Weapon of Warrior Wisdom.

It was no coincidence that Ultimate Warrior was the persona I created and performed.

Your persona is no coincidence either. Don’t hide its greatness from the World. Reveal who you truly are.

Persona is, after all, Latin for “the psyche behind the mask, the soul behind the exterior of one’s character as one presents it to the world, masking one’s inner thoughts, feelings.”

Hello warriors.

Here is today’s Weapon of Warrior Wisdom.

I want to note something here that I believe has been misunderstood by some. These Weapons of Warrior Wisdom, as I came to call them, were, initially, created for me and my own (motivational) benefit, no one else’s. (I tell the story of why I do them at the Weapons page that catalogues all of them that I have made available for auction.) The weapons were never intended to be “polished” fine art pieces that I was creating solely to be sold to the public.

An art acquaintance suggested that I sell them — and it has turned out to be an awesome idea (most of them I have listed have sold), especially since I am an artist in the business of selling art. There are what some might see as minor flaws in some of these art pieces, i.e., the quality of handwriting, the bleeding of ink in places, and the apparent quick watercoloring. Does that prohibit me from seeing them as art or selling them? No, of course not.

When it comes to art, everything is subjective. If you think these Weapon pieces aren’t worthy of being called art, then you won’t think the $1,000,000.00 solid white canvas I can show in you one of the most revered art galleries in the world is either. The point is, no one who has bought one thus far has been forced to buy one. If you would like one, bid on it. If not, don’t.

Here is today’s Weapon of Warrior Wisdom.

I was reading some of my classic and collectible health and fitness material, working on a BODY Ezine I want to send out. I’ve been collecting old school weightlifting, strongman and bodybuilding books and magazines for years. I had come across the Nautilus Bulletins, the writings by Arthur Jones that changed the course of fitness and exercise forever. He was his own man and spoke what was on his mind no matter how or who it offended. I admire that. It inspires me. He passed a few years ago but with the election tomorrow and the state of things as they are right now, I couldn’t help but smile at his classic statement; “I’m about 64,000 miles to the right of Atilla the Hun.” I was reminded, too, that I had drawn up an Arthur Jones Weapon Of Warrior Wisdom a few years ago when I was in need of inspiration. I dug it out from the stack. Here it is.

Ever Dream of Opening Your Own Gym?

IF YOU HAVE — NOW IS YOUR CHANCE!!

Back In January, I sat down and made a list of my goals for this year. One of them was to sell my Warrior’s Gym equipment I had in storage. One of the rotating banners here on the blog announces that sale.

It’s probably been 6 months since I originally posted the notice. Since that time a few contacts were made. Some about getting a couple pieces. Some about my offer to donate it. A couple serious inquires about the whole lot but once details and real ability were fleshed out, these did not came to fruition.

It’s nearing the end of the year and it’s time for me to fulfill THIS goal. I want to find a new home for this great load of commercial exercise equipment.

Further information in greater detail is here. Let me tell you a couple of things before you go there.

As the information will tell you, although the equipment is dated it was new when put into storage and the facility where it has been kept is climate controlled and most of the selectorized equipment is covered in industrial plastic wrap.

Based on the way I presented the information to announce sale of it, I have to tell you, I’m surprised that more people have not contacted me. This is really an opportunity of a lifetime.

I made it very clear I was looking to sell it all at a price that would be reasonable and fair and help the one who would put it to good use. You can search all day long at commercial equipment broker sites and see for yourself what kind of money they get for the same individual pieces. And you can go to gyms all day long and find out that they use these same pieces to outfit their clubs today. Date equipment was purchased does not matter — the condition of the equipment does.

I did provide a general figure of what the equipment was worth. The figure was conservative, I believed, and I asked anyone who could show I was wrong to let me know. I never proposed what I would actually take for it because I figured anyone with common sense could read between the lines of what I was saying and, with a little bit of research, figure out what would be a fair and reasonable offer to make. Perhaps, I was wrong.

On the chance that I was, let me get the ball rolling and throw out .30 cents on the dollar as a starting place.

Always Believe,

Warrior

Hello, fellow warriors –

Digging around here in files buried in my computer’s basement. Rediscovering posts from the past. Vintage stuff that disappeared each time there was a redesign of the site. Must be 500 to 1,000 printed pages worth. Preparing to put most of it back online here at the blog.

I opened a classic, interesting file and it caused me to remember an email that got my attention. Now it’s time for me to have yours.

A guy asks:

“Warrior, I have two young kids around the same age as yours. Do you think that it is a normal development in a man’s life to have to give up so much of ourselves to give our kids the best lives possible that our own lives begin to fall into a rut from neglect of our own needs? Is the true measure of a man what he still does for himself or what he sacrifices for others?”

I really hate to see men conflicted about these things. It’s just not natural. A man should not be confused or wonder oddly about the most basic things that make for strong peace of mind and a stable life. A man is not supposed to be struggling with doubts and uncertainties inside himself.

If males paid more attention to their natural masculine instincts and thinking for themselves rather than today’s emasculated cultural role models and their sissified opinions and examples, they’d be able to settle their inner conflicts on their own. Like a man should be able.

It may be normal by today’s standards to entertain these kinds of ideas put forward in this inquiry, but it’s certainly NOT by traditional ones. Traditional standards are what I use and my life keeps turning out to be pretty damn solid and enjoyable, which gives me and my family a beautiful peace of mind. The simple, blunt, bold and no bs attitude of these is all I have to offer. If you want advice fit for today’s low standards, and evidence of its failures, follow Hulk Hogan on Twitter.

No, of course not, not for one damn second, in any whatsoever, is it normal for a father to think anything he does for his children is somehow a bothersome sacrifice or giving something up of himself or good enough reason to neglect his own needs and put himself and his life in a rut.

For a father to view the challenging choices he has before him as burdens instead of blessings, is to be devoted half-ass to performing his responsibilities as a provider.

And to believe you have to in some way compromise your duties as a man and father so that you can fulfill your own dreams and desires is weakness, pure and simple. Letting yourself go all to hell and your dreams rot is failure, pure and simple.

A father does it ALL — and he never once whines or complains about being blessed with the privilege and honor to do so. He doesn’t try to find a way out or around. He wakes each day and simply handles whatever it is that is going on in his life.

He meets the needs of his reality AND his dreams.

He gives up nothing — of his beliefs and aspirations (his DESTINY!) or of the day-to-day demands of providing the needs and security his family depends on him for.

He does not surrender squat when it comes to what truly matters. Working on his Destiny matters every bit as much as putting food on the table and clothes on his kids.

He doesn’t entertain any thought that it is impossible.

There are many true measures of a man.

One sure one is that a man gives all of himself to doing ALL of whatever he has before him in his life to do and he does it without sitting in his OWN pile of shit, pouting and asking himself, “Why me?”, or without trying to place the burden of doing it or blame for not getting it done on someone else, especially never his family.

Quit trying to find a way to escape or give yourself a break. Don’t be a V-man. Shut down the pansy-ass inner dialogue and suck it up and take full responsibility for the life you have created for yourself.

Listen to me. If you believe the only way you can ever go after your dreams is somehow escape the life you have now, that you created by your own damn choices, you are only setting yourself up for deeper resentment and regret. If you believe the only way to get the job done will be when there is no more day-to-day shit to shovel in your life, then you will be shoveling shit till the day you die.

One more thing. A father does not provide the best possible life for his kids by doing things in his life he finds no inspiration or enjoyment in just so he can make money to buy his kids things, whether they be toys, fashionable clothes, popular tech gadgetry, the biggest house on the block, etc.

One day — not long after the day you buy it — they will forget every single material thing you, whether for basic comfort or luxury, provided for them. But they will never forget the example you set and the energy and attitude that comes off of you.

Kids have powerful instincts. You don’t have to say anything about how you feel like your life is in a rut or that you regret giving up on your dreams or that you wish your life circumstances were different.  Without one word, they will be able to read you like a book and they will know.

If you are really concerned about providing your kids the best possible life, set an example for them that they will use to positively and inspirationally guide themselves throughout the whole of their lives.

Scrap your sacrificial, selfless, superficial and conventional ideas. Find the energy, stamina, self-confidence, self-belief, and courage to leave behind the things that have you ruining yourself and get out there and fulfill the unique greatness inside of you.

Adult Retardation. Special Ed Kids have More Courage.

“A man without proper use of his intellectual faculties is, if possible, more contemptible than even a coward, and seems to be mutilated and deformed in a still more essential part of the character of human nature. This is the condition of the great body of people, confined in their employment to few simple operations, having no occasion to exert their understanding, or to exercise their invention in finding out expedients for removing difficulties…the torpor of his mind renders him not only incapable of relishing or bearing a part in any rational conversation, but of conceiving any generous, noble or tender sentiment, and consequently of forming any just judgment concerning many of the ordinary duties of private life.”
~Adam Smith

Hello fellow warrior,

The next Warrior Wisdom E-zine was to concentrate on MIND.

Let’s do it.

Schooling started back up this week for my Warrior girls.

I’ve got schooling and self-education on my mind. Both involve books, learning and studying. In many ways, my whole life is a testament to what power knowledge truly is.  But make no mistake — none of the education that has mattered most to my OWN success in life was acquired through formal schooling.

One of the greatest shocks to me is when people ask me, not “why,” “how” I’ve gone on to do other things in my life beyond my sports entertainment successes. The question reeks of an ignorance people have about the power of self-education. Of course, in many instances, the question is asked in an attempt to ridicule. Pathetically, there is an oozing disdain many people harbor for those who put self-education’s power to work to make something better or different about their lives. Most of these people die at an early age by living lives of self-destruction.

Studies show that 60% of all people do not like, even hate, what jobs or profession they do to provide for themselves. The majority of these people are college educated professionals who pursued distinct curriculums so they could have careers doing what they, now, hate.

I get emails everyday from people all over the world telling me this kind of story. And yet, they seem to have no clue how to change it, like it would be impossible to do. For some weird reason, they believe what knowledge they learned years ago, through previous schooling in their youth, is all they have to offer. Like the possibility of learning new knowledge and taking up new pursuits was restricted to a certain time period in their life, and is beyond them now.

Are you one of these?

Are you one of the 30 yr-olds writing me that you have all this incredible and expensive college education but you feel like you made a huge mistake choosing the career you’ve pursued and are lost about what to do from this point forward in your life?

Are you one of the 40 yr-olds writing me and telling me your career is just one big can of Suck Ass and you’ve sucked ass for so long that you’re now stuck ass-over-ears into a lifestyle you just don’t want anymore but don’t no how to get out from under?

Are you one of the 50 yr-olds writing me and whining that the race is all over for you, that you didn’t have what it took to be a contender when you were young and you sure as hell don’t now because you’re too damn old and too damn tired to think about it let alone do anything about it?

What — are you a fucking retard? Are you into retardation? Mental retardation? Physical retardation? Life retardation?

You may say, defiantly, “Why no, Warrior, I am not a retard and I don’t appreciate you calling me one.” And I say to you — you aren’t being honest with yourself. You damn sure are a retard if you consciously allow your thinking — your MIND — to hinder life progress.

Your age, your mistakes up till this point in your life, your immediate circumstances — what do any of these matter when you have the power of your mind and all the potential you can endlessly exploit out of life? Nothing, really — except how you are allowing your MIND to use them as excuses. Being smashed face-first into the truth does not always feel good, no. But the truth is what it is, and to fix what is wrong about ourselves, at some point and time, we must face it.

The more I watch over the schooling and education of my own girls, and reflect upon why my MIND works the way it does, it becomes more and more obvious to me why people do not “get it” about the power and potential of self-education.

The truth is, formal, classroom schooling, in and of itself, has a peculiar way of instilling ignorance about one’s true life-potential and an overall fear of life all the while it dismantles creativity and individual uniqueness.

Education is derived from educare (Latin) “bring up”, which is related to educere “bring out”, “bring forth what is within”, “bring out potential.”

Here you are born into this world capable of some form of genius. I believe this. And you were robbed of it before you even knew you were being ripped off.

“Each second we live is a new and unique moment of the universe, a moment that will never be again. And what do we teach our children? We teach them that two and two make four, and that Paris is the capital of France. When will we also teach them what they are? We should say to each of them: Do you know what you are? You are a marvel. You are unique. In all the years that have passed, there has never been another child like you. Your legs, your arms, your clever fingers, the way you move. You may become a Shakespeare, a Michaelangelo, a Beethoven. You have the capacity for anything. Yes, you are a marvel.”

~ Pablo Casals

Twenty years after the education system has its way with you, you go out into the world and do what you have no love or passion of doing. Basically, you go out and do something to make money so you can turn right around and spend it. You become one of the robots — both working on the production line and buying what comes off it. And, then, 20, 30, or 40 years down the road, you start to question what the hell you’ve been doing and what life is really all about. But by that time, the natural, instinctual creativity and intelligence you were born with as a child is substituted with a long-lasting, ingrained ignorance whereby you believe you don’t have the ability to learn at all anymore.

It’s a shame. It’s a GOD DAMN DISRESPECTING SHAME.

Schooling, ladies and gentlemen, is NOT synonymous with education. Not the kind of education, anyway, that matters toward preparing the human being for the greatest possibility to live a happy, inspired and fulfilling life. Oh, hell yeah, you learned all you needed to so that you can (and WILL without question) play by the rules of the system. The problem is all of THAT was designed to destroy your possibility at living the greatest life you had the potential for. You own all the crap, image and prestige money can buy, but you don’t OWN yourself.

None of your schooling taught you the most important thing. A love of learning. A lifetime love, so that you would know, forever, that you don’t need a school or schooling to educate yourself.

Listen to me. Learning and education happens in the mind, not in the school. You have a mind. You don’t need a damn school or schooling. If you will grasp the reality of these two things, then you don’t have to EVER accept (at any time or age) the life circumstances and conditions you are miserable in.

You are an Artist capable of Masterpieces. Don’t waste any more time fucking around. What’s gone is gone — forever. What you have left is ALL there is. Only a retard would waste it.

Read the biographies, words, thoughts, writings and ideas of others who got it right. Piggyback on their inspiring spirits. Bask in their strength and creativity and determination and courage until the virtues wear off on you. Wrap your MIND around GREATNESS and your OWN acts will become GREAT soon enough, too.

Killing yourself over the way you are because…

Killing yourself over the way you are because you’re afraid to be WHO you really should be.
“Every day we slaughter our finest impulses. That is why we get a heartache when we read the lines written by the hand of a master and recognize them as our own, as the tender shoots which we stifled because we lacked the faith to believe in our own powers, our own criterion of truth and beauty. Every man, when he gets quiet, when he becomes desperately honest with himself, is capable of uttering profound truths.”
~ Henry Miller

Hello fellow warrior,

Henry Miller is one of my favorite writers.

His moral and political perspective is (was…he is dead) different than mine, but I admire him (and any other) for following the voice of his soul and living his whole life true to it — and never gave a fuck what anybody else would think.

I am inspired by human beings who do this. He paid a significant price in his early years by choosing to live life on his OWN terms, basically living like a vagabond, barely making it meal to meal. He was brilliant yet shunned traditional education to learn his craft on his OWN, and thereby, became one of the greatest, most uniquely talented writers America ever had. He was the master of HIS destiny.

Look at you. Are you? Are you willing? Have you given up? Have you even tried?

Do you really believe such an incredible one-of-a-kind creation such as yourself exists here to pass from birth to death without creating something equally one-of-a-kind?

The answer for all of us is no. In the privacy of our own minds we all have ideas, dream and visions that we know are great and would be wonderful creations to present to the world. We all believe in our solitary moments that we, too, came here to do things in, and with, our lives that will live forever.

Few, though, have the kind of courage it takes to bring them to life. Fear of losing and embarrassing ourselves keeps us from showing the whole world what we came here truly capable of. A whole lifetime many of us will live keeping the greatest parts of ourselves hidden.

As we go on with our living, there may be secrets we will want to keep to ourselves and take to our graves. But the unique creative genius within you is NOT one of them.

In fact, what right do you have to not use the creative gifts you were endowed with? Some of you don’t believe you OWN your life anyway. You think God OWNs it. And about that, I would agree with you, HE does — although my explanation of how He does doesn’t involve faith-based, guilt-ridden, mindless servitude. Anyway, the point is, if you don’t believe you OWN your life, if it’s not your property — where the hell do you get off thinking you can misuse and waste it?! Who the hell are you to throw its potential away?! Is there no sin in that?

As I’ve said many times over, you are NOT created the way you are to come here and squander it. You do this each time you “slaughter your finest impulses” and turn away from the “profound truths” you have the power to utter.

When is the last time you really stepped off the merry-go-round of the world circus and took a long, hard and honest look at yourself?

What’s driving you in your life? Are you doing what you are in your life just to keep up with all the mundane activity the routine haphazardness of your life has you penciled in for? Or are you doing in your life what you really want to do?

Who’s giving you your life directions? Who is really designating the course your life is on? Is it you? Or is it others, someone else?

What do you spend more time and energy doing? Listening to and following your OWN impulses and profound truths or handling and processing the bullshit from others it takes to make a paycheck to pay the bills to sustain a life that gives you no joy or satisfaction?

Are you using the powerful creative instruments within you to create an artistic life of everlasting meaning and inspiration? Or are you using the mechanized contraptions the other drones of the world use to live life as a tool and nothing else?

Don’t do a lot of “nothing that really matters” in your life only so you can afford to spend, spend, spend on “stuff that doesn’t really matter.” By the end of your life, be able to say, “I’m spent. I gave everything of myself that was unique and great. I’ve nothing left in myself, or of myself, to give that really does matter. I’m done, and I’m ready to go.”

Kill Off The Goddamned Coward Within.

“Kill off the GodDamned cowards and we will have a nation of brave men.”
~ George Patton

Hello fellow warrior,

What with all that is going on this country right now, we could sure use George. Maybe two Georges. George Washington and George Patton. The courage. The character. Could go a long way in making things move along more nicely, constructively and prosperously than they are right now. Of course their strategies on how to get things done would not sit very well with the fence-sitting eunuchs of today, and there would probably be a lot of collateral damage to explain. Still, it’s an uplifting daydream to have on a hot summer afternoon.

I haven’t publicly discharged my opinion of the political state of things for quite some time. And I’m not going to now. Not here in this Warrior Wisdom piece because that is not what these are all about. Maybe later on Warrior’s Machete.

You have to admit, though, if I was in the mood to discuss what this country is going through right now, Patton’s words would make for a super premise to blast-off from.

I use Patton’s quote today because I like it. No, I LOVE IT!! It FIRES me up!! Nothing like a good ole’ GodDamnit or Fuck You to get a man motivated to get up off his ass and take action on something. And motivating and inspiring ourselves — kicking our OWN ass is what we warriors are all about, here.

Patton knew how to do it. He was a master of it — and he believed it was his Destiny! You have to love that!! That’s why his legacy is so admired and inspiring today. He kicked ass and never cared to take any names. It didn’t matter who the enemy was. To him, they all had the same name. Bastards. LOVE that!!

The GodDamned cowards you need to KILL are the pests inside your mind talking you out of getting out there and conquering the life that is yours for the taking. To make it happen you have to kill the GodDamned bastards off. Swat them down. Smash them into squishy unrecognizable goo. Visualize blowing them to smithereens in such a violent manner that you can feel the disintegrated ooze running down the inner walls of your skull. Render them unidentifiable!

Look, in many ways you’ve been lied to when it comes to how you get your life act together. Most of the crap out there you can turn to for guidance is touchy-feel-ly, telling you to look in your heart and find peacefulness, have patience and calm understanding, and learn to unconditionally love everyone else in the world. You know, hugs and kisses — the Chicken Soup stuff. Now, don’t get me wrong. I, too, can find some inspiring stories in that stuff, and there is nothing wrong with inspiration touching you on an emotional level that tugs at your heartstrings.

But the truth is, life — your everyday life — isn’t like that. Real life is a fucking meat grinder, not a warm, cuddly and cozy bowl of Chicken Soup. Peace and love and serenity and incense burning and sitting in the shape of a pretzel and humming Kumbaya isn’t going to lead you to your promise land — your Destiny.  To get there — you have to WAR.

Take it from Patton, a Warrior General whom God saluted when he showed up at the Pearly Gates.

1. War is Hell. Nothing is pretty about it. Nothing smells good about it. Nothing feels good about it. It is ugly. It stinks. It is pain. This includes the war you must engage in your life to rid yourself of your doubts and weaknesses so that you can fulfill your Destiny.

2. There is no peace without there, first, being war. Between enemies, one good and the other evil, there first has to be war for there to be peace. Good must slaughter evil. Good must destroy evil’s will to fight. Good must bring evil not just to its knees — but to its death. You cannot find or make compromise with the doubts and weaknesses (evils) within you. There is no way of peacefully disarming them. You kill them violently and viciously.

To get in the mood for becoming your OWN One Warrior Nation, eat your meat raw and bloody, and keep your motivation aggressive and brutish.

Another’s Path is Your Deadend.

“You enter the forest at the darkest point, where there is no path. Where there is a way or a path, it is someone else’s path. You are not on your own path. If you follow someone else’s way, you are not going to realize your potential.”

~ Joseph Campbell

Hello fellow warrior,

Joseph Campbell spent his whole life studying human experience and the impact and effects mythology and religion have on it. The essence of his philosophy he put forth in this thought: “Follow your bliss.”

He wrote some great stuff. “The Hero with a Thousand Faces” is one book. It’s a classic — get it and read it.

Shortly before he died, he collaborated with PBS and did a series called The Power of Myth.

When talking about your myth(s) he said:

“The myth puts you there all the time, gives you a line to connect with that mystery which you are.”
You get this one life to step into the darkness of your myth, follow your OWN unique path. No one else can give you the courage. Not I. Not any of those who have written the thousands of books filled with the millions of words.

Only you.

YOU ARE the LIGHT.

No one has the power to illuminate the path you came here to follow. Each time you ask, look or listen to others about what you should do in your life, the darkness only grows deeper.

You’ve stood at the edge of your OWN dark, mysterious forest long enough.

Be Brave. Act Bold. Step in and START following your OWN path.

Master Your OWN Machine.

“Without self knowledge, without understanding the working and functions of his machine, man cannot be free, he cannot govern himself and he will always remain a slave.”

~ G.I. Gurdkieff

Hello fellow warrior,

Everywhere I go today I see people being slaves to machines other than the great one they OWN. Little plastic and metal boxes, all of them wired to digital ether, where out of thin air the slaves exchange mostly nonsense and conformity. Hypnotized by the gadgetry, all the so-called individualists don’t blink an eye while they short-circuit and abandon the hardwiring of their own private and uncommon creativity.

Technology has done a hell of a lot more than simplify the organization, record-keeping and filing of information. It also simplified the task of turning human beings into slaves.

You may already be one. You want to pay attention to how and where you spend your time and energy to know for sure.

Brilliance and Greatness does not lie in a little box built of wires and chips. Brilliance and Greatness lies in the flesh, blood and bones of yourself.

Your Matter is what matters most, not the man-made Matter we can produce.

You have a purpose endowed within you as much as you are endowed with inalienable rights (and innate desires) to be Free in the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness.

It’s in your makeup to desire freedom because you are a “being” created able to handle its responsibility. But if you don’t use what you ARE to think and act for yourself, you won’t have freedom. On some level you will always be a slave to someone or something. It’s the certain consequence of not understanding the functions of your Human Machine and your refusal to govern yourself.

If you don’t master yourself, some other master will.
