Killing yourself over the way you are because…

Killing yourself over the way you are because you’re afraid to be WHO you really should be.
“Every day we slaughter our finest impulses. That is why we get a heartache when we read the lines written by the hand of a master and recognize them as our own, as the tender shoots which we stifled because we lacked the faith to believe in our own powers, our own criterion of truth and beauty. Every man, when he gets quiet, when he becomes desperately honest with himself, is capable of uttering profound truths.”
~ Henry Miller

Hello fellow warrior,

Henry Miller is one of my favorite writers.

His moral and political perspective is (was…he is dead) different than mine, but I admire him (and any other) for following the voice of his soul and living his whole life true to it — and never gave a fuck what anybody else would think.

I am inspired by human beings who do this. He paid a significant price in his early years by choosing to live life on his OWN terms, basically living like a vagabond, barely making it meal to meal. He was brilliant yet shunned traditional education to learn his craft on his OWN, and thereby, became one of the greatest, most uniquely talented writers America ever had. He was the master of HIS destiny.

Look at you. Are you? Are you willing? Have you given up? Have you even tried?

Do you really believe such an incredible one-of-a-kind creation such as yourself exists here to pass from birth to death without creating something equally one-of-a-kind?

The answer for all of us is no. In the privacy of our own minds we all have ideas, dream and visions that we know are great and would be wonderful creations to present to the world. We all believe in our solitary moments that we, too, came here to do things in, and with, our lives that will live forever.

Few, though, have the kind of courage it takes to bring them to life. Fear of losing and embarrassing ourselves keeps us from showing the whole world what we came here truly capable of. A whole lifetime many of us will live keeping the greatest parts of ourselves hidden.

As we go on with our living, there may be secrets we will want to keep to ourselves and take to our graves. But the unique creative genius within you is NOT one of them.

In fact, what right do you have to not use the creative gifts you were endowed with? Some of you don’t believe you OWN your life anyway. You think God OWNs it. And about that, I would agree with you, HE does — although my explanation of how He does doesn’t involve faith-based, guilt-ridden, mindless servitude. Anyway, the point is, if you don’t believe you OWN your life, if it’s not your property — where the hell do you get off thinking you can misuse and waste it?! Who the hell are you to throw its potential away?! Is there no sin in that?

As I’ve said many times over, you are NOT created the way you are to come here and squander it. You do this each time you “slaughter your finest impulses” and turn away from the “profound truths” you have the power to utter.

When is the last time you really stepped off the merry-go-round of the world circus and took a long, hard and honest look at yourself?

What’s driving you in your life? Are you doing what you are in your life just to keep up with all the mundane activity the routine haphazardness of your life has you penciled in for? Or are you doing in your life what you really want to do?

Who’s giving you your life directions? Who is really designating the course your life is on? Is it you? Or is it others, someone else?

What do you spend more time and energy doing? Listening to and following your OWN impulses and profound truths or handling and processing the bullshit from others it takes to make a paycheck to pay the bills to sustain a life that gives you no joy or satisfaction?

Are you using the powerful creative instruments within you to create an artistic life of everlasting meaning and inspiration? Or are you using the mechanized contraptions the other drones of the world use to live life as a tool and nothing else?

Don’t do a lot of “nothing that really matters” in your life only so you can afford to spend, spend, spend on “stuff that doesn’t really matter.” By the end of your life, be able to say, “I’m spent. I gave everything of myself that was unique and great. I’ve nothing left in myself, or of myself, to give that really does matter. I’m done, and I’m ready to go.”

This is what you have taught us to do, the way you have have instilled life upon us and how I live. Remember “Fear not upon how others judge you for your greatness will silence them all” …. This is my EVERYDAY way of living and for this I thank YOU! my MENTOR!!!!!!!

  2. Hey Warrior,

Another great post. I have always looked at life, my life, in the ways you’ve described above. Truth is, it’s a lonely life. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great life, a happy life and a satisfied life.

So many people do ‘mindlessly’ (as you’ve mentioned, and I wouldn’t have said it any differently) give up their right to be happy and to enjoy themselves in the decisions they do or do not make. I feel like a rarity in the world and it gets really freakin’ annoying that plenty of people have this pre-conceived notion about me. Here I am doing the right thing for myself and others and you have these people that don’t contribute anything good, they’re miserable, and they have the gall, the nerve to question me? It’s way too much to go into detail but I’m sure you can empathize and relate.

Recently I received a critique from a well established pro wrestling company following an clinic evaluation. To my dismay they really didn’t understand me or myself as a person or a professional. It got me thinking how in the hell they could do business with the lackadaisical minds they possess. Regardless, I’ve become stronger in their weakness. I haven’t let it alter my perception of self, rather increase my aggressive nature and further myself in a positive way.

I feel that my recent events coincide with your post here (as this is the first time I’m seeing it) and I wanted to express to you that I am glad that there are people like yourself that do get it.

Thanks for keeping me inspired as well. I really appreciate the way you reach out to people and show your concern for human nature as well.

    Thanks man,
